English as an additional language (EAL)
EAL is an intensive programme aimed at supporting students to develop a level of competency and confidence in using English communication, which will allow them to participate in social interaction and school-based learning. EAL aims to make students' English competency comparable to their peers in the mainstream classes, so that each EAL student can complete the same academic tasks. The programme focusses on developing reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, allowing students to continue conceptual development in other curriculum areas, while developing English language skills. Every opportunity is taken to focus on texts, topics and skills suitable to accomplish these aims.
